Goodbye Summer, Hello Fall and Crazy Schedules!

We're back!  It has been an insanely busy month since we last posted, so it will be a post with hopefully quick updates and pictures for you!  We ended summer with a camping trip with friends to Bayfield, WI.  The weather was chilly, but comfortable.  We enjoyed the beach, despite Lake Superior's frigid water temps.
Megan, Easton and Kaden camped with us... they have a fancy camper, we borrowed Auntie Erin's family's pop-up and LOVED it.  So much in fact, that we have discussed buying one of these someday.
Camping sure is a TON of work, but the memories are life long.  We experienced one night of storms, which we were so thankful to be in a camper and not our tents.
Mommy and one of her best friends, Cory at the campfire
We explored downtown Bayfield and liked their boat museum
In the background, you see the ferry that will take you to Madeline Island.  We thought about going, but decided our camping was so great that we didn't want to lose a day.  Maybe next time!
We didn't catch any fish, but then again, Lake Superior is not your "pan-fish" lake.
The parents enjoyed watching us from shore, we braved the freezing cold water.... the plentiful tree trunks became our boats in the water.
Cooper loves sand angels and then showed us his sand mustache.  Needless to say, sand was stuck to his body for probably a week.
Family photo in Bayfield.  Cooper thinks it is funny to make all sorts of expressions now for the camera.  He was having fun in case you are concerned.
To also mark the end of summer and Mom's return to some sports, we hit the links.  It was a perfect weather day for golf.  Mom hacked it up the first few holes, but then got back into the groove.  She is not supposed to swing full-strength (drive) yet, so she modified which was hard for her to keep in mind :)  Cooper and I played the entire round.  It took us 3 hours to golf 9 holes (with a cart), but clearly, we were not in a rush that day.
Notice the rainbow streak in this pic?!?!  Cool!
Once again, a crazy expression by Cooper

We entered this picture into the Smiles in Motion summer contest.  We were asked to wear SIM (dental clinic) gear in a summer photo.  We captured this picture collage in Chetek and our caption was, "Cooper and Caden smiling in motion, 11 mph that is, on Lake Chetek this summer!"  Well... we took 2nd place and received a $50 gift card to Target!  We were so proud and excited.  The best part was that we had fun and we kept our sunglasses on the whole time.
We have been harvesting our garden produce these past few weeks. Our tomatoes ripened and were plentiful and our squash took over the entire garden.  It was a successful year overall!
Here are our expressions after Mom said we were going to have a vegetable dinner.  Yes, gardening is fun, but no, we don't like vegetables any more than we used to.
The first day of school finally arrived.  We were ready for it... clothes were purchased and ready for our Welcome Back Day where we met our teachers, put away supplies and then had our school pictures.  It was a VERY hot day for long-sleeve shirts.  Mom thinks she was in denial about Cooper going to Kindergarten.  She knew he was ready, he has always been an independent child, but the night before, when she gave him one last kiss, she became a puddle.  Our little Cooper was starting his school career and darn it, he grew up even though she begged him to stay little.
First Day 2015... Caden 2nd grade, Cooper Kindergarten!

Cooper asked what lovey would do when he went to Kindergarten.  He thought of a solution so that lovey wouldn't miss him too much.  He set lovey by Sandy (our frog) so that he had company all day.  Melt.our.hearts.
Just another sign that Cooper is no longer our little man...
 Ready for Kindergarten!
 We hope?!?!?
The two cutest, sweetest, and smartest boys
Ready for 2nd grade... I got this.
My teacher Miss Bernhardt is awesome!  She is so cheerful, caring, and fun!  I have been excited to have her since I started Kindergarten.  A fun fact is Mommy was Miss Bernhardt's soccer coach in high school.  They play soccer together from time to time to this day!
Cooper has Mrs. Stoffel.  She was my Kindergarten teacher and has taught Kdg for 12 years.  She is the true definition of a Kindergarten teacher.  We know it will be a great year for Cooper!
The next day was our first FULL day of school.  We have company at the bus stop this year as our newest neighbors just completed the construction of their new home.  They are a great family and we are excited to get to know them more this year!
I am a WOLF this year in Boy Scouts.  I now sport a yellow scarf and hat and will work hard on receiving new beads and badges.  I love scouts!
Cooper brought home this picture.  It brought Mommy back to her teaching days where she taught kids about Mat Man.  Immediately, the song came out of her mouth while Cooper and I just stared at her singing like a lark.  Always a teacher at heart!
We sent Mommy a love note in her lunch one day.  She was tickled from this adorable gesture.  She said her days just fly by during this busy time of field placements.  Her job is going well, it is just an insanely busy month. She looks forward to that changing in the next week when students head out to meet their new cooperating teachers.
Daddy turned 40!  His birthday was during our first week of school.  For his gift, we sent him to Canada with 8 guys for a fishing trip.  We celebrated the night before his actual bday (since he was fishing on his actual day).  We met family for dinner, cake and also had some gifts for Whitney (who turned one at the end of August!)  Happy Birthday Daddy... you don't look a day older than 29 (wink)!
Happy 1st Birthday Whitney!  You are such a sweet blessing to our family!
Daddy and Ben (our friend, Laurie Jo's husband) showing off their daily catch of walleyes, northerns, and lake trout.
They were gone for 5 days, just long enough to get a well deserved break.  Meanwhile, we survived with Mommy at home.  We were busy with school, ate dinner out most evenings, went to Chetek to ski and go boating, and then hit Meggen and Pete's cabin for a last summer hoorah!  We stayed busy but we sure were happy when our fisherman returned home.
The day finally came... Mommy started running.  It was slooooow... she started 1/4 mile run, then 1/4 walk, 1/4 run, 1/4 walk, etc... At this time, she has worked her way up to 1-1.5 miles run with some walking breaks as she gets sore.  The therapy room was full of smiles and cheering as this momentous day was celebrated.  She is so excited to run again.  It's the little things in life...
Mommy had a fun girls' night out to celebrate her friends upcoming wedding in October.  Shelby and Chad travel with our parents to Mexico and along the way, they have become good friends.  It was a fun celebration for the girls!
And finally....soccer has started!  It has been TOO busy to take pictures.  Mom coaches Cooper's U-6 team (BLAST) and we have had an overlap in game times these past two weeks.  I play on the Rangers U-8.  Our teams are doing great, we have developed since last spring, and we are ready for fall soccer!  Once again, we say goodbye to such an awesome summer season, but crisp air, apple orchards, pumpkins, fall leaves and colors are always a welcome time too!
