Happy New Year! We hope this finds you off to a great start to 2014!
We celebrated New Years at home this year. Daddy worked during the day, so we spent the morning with Lily and Lucy making crafts and playing with two of our favorite girls.
That night, we continued our parents tradition of having a fondue dinner- we dipped shrimp, chicken and mushrooms as part of our dinner. Besides the obvious of trying not to get burned, it was delicious and fun!OK, let's be honest, we were all just waiting to dig into our dessert- chocolate fondue with strawberries, pound cake and bananas for dipping!
We returned to school and schedules on January 2nd. Life seems like a blur since then. We had 2 days of incredibly cold weather which caused my school and Mom's school to close. Yippee for pajama days! How did we stay busy STUCK inside... games, movies, crafts, Legos, blocks, cars, forts, and a special treat~ snow ice cream. Mommy risked her life for 2 seconds as she scooped up a bucket of snow for our project. Thankfully, she is OK and we enjoyed a unique and yummy snack.
Hockey went on as usual and no, the ice rink didn't seem any colder than it usually does. I am officially a mighty mite. I moved up and Cooper continues on the Beginner's team. I will stay a mighty mite until around age 7. Daddy is an assistant coach for both, so he is very busy. Mom has become more bitter about sitting in the rink two days a week. She is officially a "Hockey Mom."
Cooper (above in the orange jersey and white helmet) is doing great with skating. He is HUNGRY for the puck and will pretty much dive after it just to score a goal. Fits his personality perfectly.
We see him laying down on the ice sometimes too. One hour of hockey is a lot for a 3 year old. He hangs in there most practices, but comes home exhausted and ready for bed :)
On mighty mites, we work on many of the same drills as beginners, but there is more scrimmaging and game preparation in this league. I am technical with my skills and can do many of the required drills. On the other hand, I really could care less if I touch the puck or score during scrimmages. My parents hope that I will become more interested in this aspect of hockey... maybe I can be a defensive player or goalie.
We had a parents 4 learning event on Saturday at my school. It was a snowman themed morning full of fun. One of the most exciting activities was wrapping my teacher like a snowman, or should I say, snowlady.
I continue to LOVE school, my teacher and my friends.
The kids at the learning party joined in on the fun and we wrapped each other like one big happy snowman family! Mommy can't wait to do this with her class (minus the green wig) this winter! It was a blast.
Thankfully, we had a nice weekend of winter weather. We were outside riding snowmobiles, sledding/tubing, snowboarding and snowshoeing. Enjoy our closing pictures from our fun outside!
Making a jump for our sleds
Our crazy Liberty likes to go sledding too :)
Super Cooper!
Meanwhile, I am perfecting my own jump....
Cooper is crazy athletic- he jumps on a snowboard and just goes... lucky kid!
Wipeout with a smile
Warrior calling
I wonder if his tongue being out helps at all?
Finally, my jump is ready for testing
Yep, it worked
Here's to hoping for more lovely winter days!
