Mommy decorated and pulled the theme together (perks of her being a Kindergarten teacher) and Mommy's friend, Jeannie, once again made the most amazing cake ever! We loved it!
Our "fun" table included a vintage suitcase from Great-Grandma with goody bags filled with compass rings, bubbles, a punching balloon, candy and Ellie badges (Mommy made these with bottle caps, prints off labels and Mod-Podge). She also made the sucker holder and did some finishing touches. Her head nearly spun off, but she managed to pull this one off. The photo below is a tiny sneak peek at some professional photos Kristin took a few weeks back. She is still editing the pictures so we hope to add those to the blog soon!
Veggie cups (thanks Pinterest) and 3-D images that Mommy folded origami style for HOURS to create Russell, Carl and the Up House. She doesn't ever want to do this again, ever.
Rainbow fruit tray (think Up/sky here)...
And a lemonade stand with the 3-D Up house floating behind it :)
We welcomed guests including the youngest one...Hi Jimmy (TWO months old now!)
And the oldest guest~ great-Grandma (Daddy's side) who is in her mid-eighties :)
We played outside between raindrops on our new swingset
Made trains on the slide together (funny what kids learn from older cousins!)
Road the Gator under the swings and attempted to see how many kids could ride on this at once, thankfully it did not bust!Holy Christmas! We opened a zillion presents including this Spiderman bike for Cooper, Hot Wheels tracks and cars for me, and many games, books, clothes, money, candy, and a sandbox (more to come on that one!)
We treated everyone to a pinata fiesta (notice kids don't nail this thing with a bat, just pull a string while taking turns until the trap door opens and candy flies everywhere- GENIUS!)
Time to reap the rewards, yum!
And the icing on the cake, was literally just that. We dug into that beautiful cake with no huge messes to take photos of and laugh at. I guess that means Cooper and I are growing up (sniff, sniff says Mommy). Thank you to all who made our birthday extra special this year!Once our guests left, Grandpa Jamie and Daddy started to work on the outdoor sandbox. I helped run the drill and received some real tools to help with this (no, the drill above is not mine). We will post the finished product next week as the sandbox is AWESOME!
The following day was Daddy's Day! We gave him some special gifts to honor him and all the wonderful things he does for our family.
Probably Daddy's favorite gift was the "Hooked on You" worm jar with our permission for him to head to Canada for a week in September. He loves going and we know he will not go unless we give him our blessing. Enjoy Daddy!
Mommy gave Daddy this sweet little plaque on a stand. It has her favorite quote which got Daddy a bit choked up (admit it Dad!) We bought Daddy a new North Face and a gel bike seat-he is very thankful for that one too.Speaking of a bit of sadness.... we went to Grandpa Chris's gravesite (Daddy's father) to leave a Father's Day balloon and we released some balloons to heaven so he could tie these to his chair, just like we tied balloons to ours for our party. We know Grandpa loved the balloons we picked out for him. We wish we could have met this amazing man.
We hope the trees eventually released the balloons his way (darn wind!)
Grandpa sent us a sign later that day. This might seem strange, but Grandpa "speaks" to us by opening a peace lily on our plant around special occasions. It actually hasn't bloomed in quite some time, but 2 days before our b-day celebration, a beautiful bloom opened. We also see eagles from time to time, often when we are spending time with family or when we least expect it. Eagles are such a calm and beautiful presence and we think of him when we see these amazing creatures. We saw an Eagle on Father's Day while boating with Ben, Erin, Bennett, Kyra (who moved back that weekend) and Grammy. Goosebumps.....
We also made sure to give Daddy lots of love and kisses from his favorite boys. Love you Daddy! To celebrate Father's Day AND the homecoming of the Klays, we went boating together! We are so excited to have Ben, Erin, Kyra and Bennett back "home" from GA. Their new house is being finished, so they will be at Grammy's house for a few weeks in transition. Here are some favorite photos of our day with them!
Disregard the glowing white skin from those of us who have not lived in Southern sun :)
Bennett is almost exactly one year older than me. We are great buddies and I know being closer will bring us together even more!
Kyra just finished 4th grade and is SO excited to babysit us and spend time together. She is an awesome big cousin, but then again, all of our cousins are AWESOME!
I made everyone stop at our favorite little pub on the lake for ice cream treats and drinks. My parents appreciate such good advice on a hot and sunny day.
We headed home later that day after a busy few days. This is the last photo of Cooper and paci as the Paci Fairy visited Cooper the night of his 2nd birthday! It has been a bit rough, but he is doing well overall without this little orthodontic devil. We hope he will soon forget about paci and we hope his teeth will too :) We will update Cooper's birthday events from Wednesday on our next blog post! Thanks for tuning in to our latest BIG events!
